Forum Lock-down

Lots of spam lately, so I've locked registration - new accounts now require admin approval.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

On the plus side, there is the unintended side effect of the forum filter utterly breaking the meaning of their spam with its hilarious substitution game.

'korean anal balloons' is still the favourite.

I've still not seen the film, but just had a sudden realisation that I am currently the WALL-E of these boards, cleaning forums noone reads so that posts noone reads can still be found. That's more depressing than I had thought it was.

Yes. The problem is killing off the bots who registered as they surface one by one. If only someone would just go through and cull them all from the memberlist, they're pretty easy to spot as they all came up within a set period of time and in a standard format.

Do you think at some point it's safe to take down the barbed wire fences and extra security measures, in case all of those desparate to register people turn up suddenly - you know, as they're bound to - or are we going to stay on permanent lockdown?

Magnificent. I feel excited when someone replies to me here.

By the way foams, VT was looking for you back in April 2014 on the TDZK Facebook group. No idea if he ever made contact, but for some reason that reminded me and I felt I should pass that on 21 months later.

I spotted him in the #fury IRC channel awhile back. Thanks for the message though. :)

Why is it always near the beginning of a new year that I fall into a pattern of reminiscing over old things?

2015 was a crazy year.

I guess we could disable security features, but does it matter?

I help run Sufficient Velocity, sort of a SF/F forum with a focus on fiction writing (original, fanfiction, or interactive stuff like RPing or questing).
