How do you turn a group of educated adults into a bunch of pouting pre-teens?

Like this.

Blog entry isn't that great (and I can't get the second word), but people's comments just made me laugh.

Merry Christmas to any fans who still look at this page! We have a bit of good news...the holidays coming up means the TDZK team has more time to work on finishing fleets! It's still been slow going since our last post.

On a sidenote, this page is going to get a slight revision soon to make it much more obvious that fleets is still under development. I guess it's a good thing that it looks crisp enough for people to think it's done, but the tide of 'why can't I register' emails has been picking up in volume lately.

Random but I think it's worthwhile, I just sent in my comments for the FTC's DRM Town Hall that they are going to hold. If you've had trouble with DRM / want to send in your comments the link is https://secure.commentworks.com/ftc-DRMtechnologies/

They are a bit late to the game though, iTunes is going the route of no copy protection, but maybe they'll end up helping other media like Games and Movies move towards the right path of DRM-freeness.

Well it's not specifically aimed at me, nor do I think that they'll achieve anything, but I stuck my oar in anyway.

DRM is a totally outdated concept - every new level of protection gets bypassed within minutes by those who know how. All it really does nowadays is penalise people who are doing things honestly. A good example here is one of the games I was given for Christmas. Despite meeting all the system requirements, particularly having the correct type of drive, the DRM on the disc was so advanced that my computer couldn't even read it. No autoplay, no installation, no game. I was forced to download the damn thing "illegally" in order to play.

In a fight between the internet and any other entity, the internet always wins, and the internet loves piracy. The sooner companies (especially the music industry) realise this and try to work around piracy instead of trying to fight it, the sooner we can all get on with our lives.

And no DRM keeps me employed.

All glory to the auditor!

On a related topic, the Spectrial verdict was released today. I think it's fairly interesting that the music companies should manage to win this one despite having to drop half the charges on the second day, being unable to prove any of their evidence pointed directly at The Pirate Bay and attempting to prove laughable assertions such as John Kennedy trying to make us believe that every illegal download represents a lost sale for the music industry.

Still, it doesn't really matter - TPB isn't closing down and it wouldn't make any impact on torrents and filesharing even if it did. Plus there's always appeals.

Terran Conflict has a 5 installation limit on it through Steam. This irritates me, as I've had to reinstall twice since December 1 because of computer issues. As I understand it, we as entertainment consumers and audiences are boycotting this kind of anti-piracy specifically because of situations like mine. Is that correct?
