Open Source TDZK-knockoff?

Postby Caped Avenger » November 28th, 2010, 8:03 am

This is one solution to the current lack of TDZK that I haven't head suggested yet. From what I've gathered reading other threads:
1) The admins won't turn over source code for the game so that we can host a server
2) The admins don't have any near-term plans to resurrect the game
3) TDZK is too big a game for any individual to recreate

What I'd like to hear discussed is:
4) Leverage the knowledge and resources of the TDZK community (rich in web development and programming experience) to build a new TDZK-like game from scratch. The hope is that if we can get enough people involved then this becomes a realistically achievable task.

Thoughts?

I've been working on a game. Debated with myself about OSing it but I can't even get any help with closed source game.

There's no such thing as a little necro on redial. Otherwise there'd only be one post per thread.
