Frontpage update.

Postby foamy » December 13th, 2008, 10:10 pm

fleets.tdzk.com wrote:Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to any fans who still look at this page! We have a bit of good news...the holidays coming up means the TDZK team has more time to work on finishing fleets! It's still been slow going since our last post.

On a sidenote, this page is going to get a slight revision soon to make it much more obvious that fleets is still under development. I guess it's a good thing that it looks crisp enough for people to think it's done, but the tide of 'why can't I register' emails has been picking up in volume lately.
In the grim future of redial, there is only bitterness.

Maybe if we start a huge publicity campaign, we could get popular enough to win ourselves a Vaporware Award!

Vaporware does occasionally threaten to make some progress though...

Ok, this is nitpicky, but it's been bugging me ever since they put that message up. Plus, I'm a pedantic bastard.

There's no "Contact us" button on the front page, nor even a written email address. There isn't one on the "Login" page. There isn't on the "Change password" page. There isn't one on the "Lost Password" page. There isn't one on any of the nine "News" article pages. In fact, the only page with any email address at all is the "Privacy Policy" page.

Now, my suspicion is that anyone willing to sit around and just click random links until they find something would also be willing to actually read the blurb about the game, which itself includes a note to say that Fleets isn't yet operational. Certainly, I'd expect anyone interested in the game to read it, since they wouldn't know anything about it without having done so. Also, I imagine that most people who are bored enough to spend time loading random pages without bothering to read them probably wouldn't send their email to the "Privacy Policy Administrator", since that's clearly not the right place.

In short, maybe you got one email. Two if you're lucky, but hardly a tide. Frankly, I doubt you got any.

Don't be so cynic. They probably got one letter with x mas wishes and somebody made a joke about not being able to log in yet.

Postby Deception » February 23rd, 2009, 10:03 pm

So, we've managed to run into some serious technical difficulties for one of the concepts we're trying to have in fleets. Nothing unsolvable, but progress has been really, really slow. Probably about what everyone was expecting, but figured it was time for some type of post on here. Various real-life events are also reducing the time spent coding right now.
